Cargo Velo
How Cargo Velo runs its daily operations on CitySlim

The challenge
Cargo Velo delivers by cargo bike for retailers, healthcare providers, online stores and logistics partners. A single day combines express jobs, scheduled rounds, ship-from-store orders and parcels that arrive at the hub overnight. Planning all of that by hand, or with software designed for vans, simply did not work.
Where CitySlim came from
CitySlim started as Cargo Velo’s in-house tool, built to help dispatchers keep up with a growing number of couriers and orders. It evolved with every new type of delivery the company took on, and became the platform other couriers now use.
How Cargo Velo uses CitySlim
- Dispatch combines pickups and deliveries in the same ride and adds express jobs to routes already under way.
- Fixed blocks keep the parts of a route that dispatchers know by heart in their set order, while the planner handles the rest.
- Inbound scanning at the hub confirms that pre-announced parcels have arrived before they are planned.
- Track & trace keeps Cargo Velo’s clients and their customers informed with live ETAs.
- Invoicing draws on the delivery data in CitySlim and feeds straight into their invoicing software.
